Sudden Hands Movement
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone
Does any one know or have had sudden movements of parts of the body especially the hands, swinging so much that I slap people close by without intent?
is it invisible epilepsy and what is invisible epilepsy because I couldn't read the article?

Yes i’ve only mentioned it to my doctor once but we were talking about a lot of things so i think it was ignored. Hopefully we both get it figured out because it is very annoying lol. Need to get over being insecure about it around others because its not my fault it’s just so obvious and all i think is damn everyone probably thinks im on drugs lol need to get over that😅 people just close minded

I’ve been having twitches for like a year now.. it’s only gotten worse. I wave my arms and snap my fingers, i yell for no reason(can be funny in times of silence lol) i shake my head a lot. and i’m suspicious that it’s a side effect from medication i’ve been on for years. Tardive dyskenisia? Dont wanna self diagnose. But this doesn’t seem to be their focus but im going to tell them at my next app how much it bothers me.

Mine got worse with time as well - from head dropping to whole body movements. A stay in hospital confirmed it was dyskenisia brought on from one of the medications I had recently been given, so am never to be given again.

My neurologist, told me they were tremors. They get worse with coffee.

Mine are very mild (or so it seems) and actually first pointed out by my family. They generally occur in my hands. However, they cause my hands to twitch slightly such that my hands will twitch toward my computer keyboard and make it impossible to hold a fork to eat things like corn or peas. I just use a spoon to eat those things but it is annoying.
