It can be very hard for the Dr. To determine whether or not you have epilepsy when your not showing seizures on the EEG monitor.
Most of the time the inpatient EEG’s are for surgical treatments. Sometimes, we’ll in my case when I was introduced to my Epileptologist a few of visits in , during my appointment. He suggest that I do a 7day EEG. He want to understand my seizure patterns and types better.
Mostly for other treatment options. My doctor asked me to take an EEG because she wanted to know where the seizures were coming from and to find out can we control the seizures through different medications or maybe look into surgery. So, it has helped me to take the EEG which led to surgery. I am pleased that i had it because my seizures reduced from 4 to 5 a month to 1 every 4 to 5 months. But everyone is different and what surgery will work for one person may not work as well to someone else. That's why testing and EEGs can be good tools.
Is there information to be gained if no seizure occurs?
