Theres also weed that has thc and cbd that will get you high if you use enough. If your not used to the effects of weed, tread lightly. Its pretty strong these days. Be esp careful with edibles cause you cant feel it coming on like when you smoke and its very easy to overdue it. I think they make gummie candy that just a few strong ones can really hit you strong. Baby steps is the key. Good luck

Try out just a little and see how it makes you feel. If it feels like its helping or could be, try a little more. Research which types of weed are good for seizure control. Its prolly high cbd weed which usually doesnt get you high at all. Its just got medical properties.

Your doctor probably gets paid royalties by Keppra per patient prescribed. I was put on Dilantin in 1999 after having Grand Mals and its worked perfectly for 23 years. Knock on wood!! 400mg a day is a lot!! Wow!! I was on 300mg a day at first and they said my levels were too high. Been on 200mg a day since and I even take a little less here and there cause I can feel how heavy it can get. I get spacey and tired if I have too much in my system. Doctors dont like anything they dont suggest, esp weed cause they don’t make nothing off it. Its sad but true. I wonder what he meant by Dilantin being outdated? It works great for me. I wouldnt want to change my meds for anything as long as Im not having Grand Mals. The most painful and scariest experiences of my life. Ten times more painful then breaking bones… Smoke up honey!! 😊🙏

Thanks Chris,
After the conversation with my Neurologist, I checked how long Dilantin had been on the market and was surprised that it was approved in the late 1960's. What I meant by outdated, was that more meds had come on line before it being prescribed to me. I also have a really healthy appetite (aside from the munchies) and that comes with a high metabolism, so I think that I just processed it too quickly … which also explains the high dosage. I'm happy Dilantin works for you, I just needed something else

The reason for the question is that I had a grand mal about 6 years ago and my neurologist looked into what I was taking and told me that Dilantin was outdated when it was prescribed to me in 1985, and I was extremely lucky because there was almost no medication in my system. I had been taking 100mg 4x daily for almost 30 years and he was baffled as to why I did not have more seizure activity. I told him that I have been a daily weed smoker since I was 19 years old (now 55). After I told him this he just dropped the subject. I do not want to do away with meds altogether, I just want a good balance so I can function as normal as possible. I am now on Keppra and it works fine, but it also dulls my appetite when I take it. Aside from the fact that I enjoy it, the munchies keep me on a pretty even level and I'm happy. I also drive trucks for a living and am curious to see if anyone else has had the issue sidestepped by their doctor.
