I Am Having A Migraine For 2 Weeks Now. Is It A Good Time To Start Exercising Now?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have no energy and do not exercise. I read that exercise will help with energy. I do not sleep and am constantly tired. I get a lot of headaches and migraines. For the past 2 weeks, I have had a constant migraine and it is not gone yet. Is it a good time to start exercising while having this awful migraine?

Hi Mari3, I’m so sorry about your migraines! They are awful! First, talk to your Neurologist about getting nerve block injections. I get injections around every six months for migraines. It’s a game changer for me! Exercise is a great thing to do and would probably help. However, I would take it easy until you get a handle on your migraines. Swimming does help with my headaches. Walking helps reduce my anxiety and is a great outlet for me.

Glad you are getting some relief! Pay attention to what your eating and hydrate big time! Sometimes my migraines can cause me to have a seizure. I really have to watch my sleep and try to manage my stress! Ha Ha!

Thank you very much for answering me. I finally got hold of my neurologist. He was on leave. He suggested I take Gen-Payne. It helped. My headache is now lingering in the background. I will definitely take a look at starting to walk.☺️

I would go to the hospital first to get checked out and then work out just to be safe that's just me

It depends on the typical effect of your migraines. If you are safe to do so, exercise will help with energy. Does your doctor know about length of this migraine?
A site recommending exercise suggests What kind of exercise is good for migraines?
Biking, swimming, and walking are great ways to fit in aerobic exercise and help reduce the frequency and severity of migraines and headaches.
However, I have no idea what the temperature is where you live, but heat is bad for migraines so I would suggest if you have access to one of them to use a treadmill or an stationary exercise bike to do the exercising.

Swimming is a great exercise in an indoor pool as long as you are not alone, but the aerobic exercise is also recommended.
