Hello everyone. I am Kitty and was first diagnosed with partial seizures in 2001 after a bad car wreck (know I am old terminology). Three weeks ago after being rushed to the ER, I was told I did not have epilepsy but instead had Psychogenic Nonepileptic Seizures and even had one doctor tell me I was faking.
My questions are can Psychogenic Nonepileptic Seizures:
1. Experience symptoms before one of these seizures starts that lets you know it's getting ready to happen
2. Can these types… read more
Thanks Margery for the information. On the doctors, the one doctor who treated me twice in my local ER who said I was faking, he very much meant it to the point he said to other staff that you can tell she is faking because she has pissed or messed (only he used the other word) on herself. He then found an animo packet which he held my nose until it burned the lining in my nose and sinuses. He also apparently marked my records as such because no medical treatment is given when I go to the ER or when EMS has to pick me up. For this reason, I no longer go to the hospital now and am now waiting for my doctor's appt next month.
Thanks nightowl. I have just had a 24hr video EEG study done, after yet another lovely stay in the hospital, and nothing happened during it. Course they did not do anything to even try to bring one on while the study was going on. In fact, if anything, that was my most restful 24hrs the whole time there as they left me alone and was not coming and going every 20mins. However what gets me, is that on the results, there is a lovely comment about how the patient did not mark anyting during study time. Come to find out, while the guy was unhooking me, there was a button they should have given so if I felt anything I could push it and it would have put a "bookmark" on the read out.
I don't know much about psychogenic seizures, but I have partial seizures. And I know when I am about to have them most of the time. They can happen daily, several times, these are called "clusters". If your doctor is thinking you are faking, find a new one! Best bet would be to get a video EEG so they can see what is going on when you are having them.
