Can Anyone Relate To This Type Of Seizure?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi friends,

As i have been getting to know my seizures better ive noticed certain things. I tried explaining this to my neurologist, he kinda brushed me off by saying "i havent really heard of that." which isnt something i want to hear from a doctor. He made me feel a bit crazy and I left that appt feeling more confused than ever. So please let me know if you yourselves have felt this type of seizure or you have heard of this. I just want someone to validate that im not a nutcase.

Absolutely same. Thought forms have always triggered seizures since I had them. Like thinking of a persons face in a video, like you said or something weird like that. It’s weird though. It likely has to do with the. Adrenal energy or something. It often will make me a little dizzy, nauseous etc maybe an aura too, but not a full blown. I do psychic and energy work so I always chocked it up to the energy work, but now I know it’s also related to the epilepsy. Thanks for asking this important question. I bet there are more of us who experience this or something like this.

I can't give you the answer you are looking but some insight.
I go to John's Hopkins. It and the Cleveland Clinic are the 2 best neurology clinics in the country.
My seizures present as the ambient sounds that I feel throughout my body ... Not a single Dr. @ JH has ever had a patient with a sensory only seizure disorder. But that didn't stop them from listening. There's less 1% of epileptics that have it.
I say all of that to say this. Just because your Nuero hasn't heard of it doesn't make them right. You know your triggers. Better than anyone. You have the right to switch Drs at anytime. Research or Teaching Hospitals are great for cases like yours. Because if I was you Nuero I'd basically say prove it and have you do an overnight at the EMU. Help them become a better Neuro and yeah them something they aren't going to learn in a text book..
Just my 2 cents.

Yup…sounds like one of the things that happens to me. The memory type thing. It’s like a feeling state then There’s a lot of belly sinking activity, roller coastery type feeling etc.
The docs do not understand, often they do not have epilepsy themselves, so they have no idea what we experience really. I’m so sorry they have been dismissive about this.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member yes! Thank you, i wonder if were describing the same feeling. Its so hard to explain sensations to someone, mine pretty much come on as a memory, like my brain is trying to remember something that it cant quite bring into place, then i get this rising feeling in my stomach like the feeling you get when you drop on a rollercoaster and this weird heat sensation going
Down from my head to my toes. Then if im lucky it ends there, if not it spreads to the other hemisphere of my brain and i go unconscious. Usually when I have certain thoughts it could trigger that process. I need to probably explain this to a few doctors to see if it makes any sense to them.
