As i have been getting to know my seizures better ive noticed certain things. I tried explaining this to my neurologist, he kinda brushed me off by saying "i havent really heard of that." which isnt something i want to hear from a doctor. He made me feel a bit crazy and I left that appt feeling more confused than ever. So please let me know if you yourselves have felt this type of seizure or you have heard of this. I just want someone to validate that im not a nutcase.

Dr's can't explain our weird thoughts any more than a dream. During a seizure brain is on hold for a bit the conscious mind, speech is too. The subconscious keeps our vital body parts going but some body parts & senses & thoughts are screwed up. Individual reactions are as unique as our dreams. Emotion is riled too. Thought I was psychic? crazy? It was a relief to know the physical cause-epilepsy. So many geniuses thru history had seizures but not enough known to try to explain it or control it. A fav of mine L. Carroll's Alice in Wonderland felt his seizures inspired it. A different view was Poe's dark poem The Raven he felt cursed. Einstein just shrugged his off cause couldn't be explained so why worry? So glad we now have meds to help all types so rhe more we know bout our own the better. If I feel one of my frequent partials I keep reminding myself it will pass, I know why, & my meds will stave off biggies. To dwell on or worry how we feel is when it affects our minds. My 50 years of all types of seizures doesn't compare to far worse health problems.
Absolutely same. Thought forms have always triggered seizures since I had them. Like thinking of a persons face in a video, like you said or something weird like that. It’s weird though. It likely has to do with the. Adrenal energy or something. It often will make me a little dizzy, nauseous etc maybe an aura too, but not a full blown. I do psychic and energy work so I always chocked it up to the energy work, but now I know it’s also related to the epilepsy. Thanks for asking this important question. I bet there are more of us who experience this or something like this.
I can't give you the answer you are looking but some insight.
I go to John's Hopkins. It and the Cleveland Clinic are the 2 best neurology clinics in the country.
My seizures present as the ambient sounds that I feel throughout my body ... Not a single Dr. @ JH has ever had a patient with a sensory only seizure disorder. But that didn't stop them from listening. There's less 1% of epileptics that have it.
I say all of that to say this. Just because your Nuero hasn't heard of it doesn't make them right. You know your triggers. Better than anyone. You have the right to switch Drs at anytime. Research or Teaching Hospitals are great for cases like yours. Because if I was you Nuero I'd basically say prove it and have you do an overnight at the EMU. Help them become a better Neuro and yeah them something they aren't going to learn in a text book..
Just my 2 cents.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member hi Margery, yes ive already been diagnosed with epilepsy and im currently taking meds for it. I just wanted to see if my specific type of seizures sounded familiar to anyone because my doctor seemed confused by it.
Marz What you're feeling is a seizure please get tests to understand why you feel this way. It will clear up your mind to know understand. Think a heart Dr must have a heart attack to diagnose one? I know what you mean if thoughts are crazy but it is a seizure of brain not of the mind. I wish we could think it away but we can't for a heart either. Years ago epilepsy was linked to insanity but not now. It will not help to play Dr. forr yourself. The more you learn medically will help-not what some say.
