Has Anyone Ever Had A Bad Waking Experience After A Surgery ?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm so embarrassed
I've never done this to a surgen before and I don't know what to do !
I didn't wake up from my surgery very well and the incident keeps replaying in my head .
Ever time the incident flashes through my mind I feel like I'm reliving it again .
I can't help but wonder why this fearful incident keeps reoccurring .
These reoccurring incidental flashes are making me wonder exactly what happened when I was out and why I woke up screaming .

A few hours after my 1st craniotomy, I woke up freezing & starving I freaked out completely said and did horrible things. I was promptly discharged and sent home with unsigned scripts home was over a two hour drive from the hospital 🤬 However my 2nd craniotomy I was given all of my psych meds a nicotine patch and kept in ICU . I don't know if any of what I mentioned is connected. It was incredibly embarrassing 😔

Hi Carolyn,
Stories like these are just what the doctor ordered for me.
There's nothing quite like a good old fashioned reminder of just how bad it really could have been.
Thank you for taking the time to share. You're words are greatly appreciated.

Hey Jameson,
Thanks for the heads-up
I'm hoping that it just wears off after a few more weeks along with th physical recovery from the procedure as well.

Im not sure if I woke up … as it was my clean up operation to my left front temporal lobectomy & next minute the alarms went off as my whole right side from head to toes including both the right sight from both eyes had gone, thanks to the stroke. Now 20yrs on, my sight has glaucoma, optic neuropathy, shingles 4 times in left eye, wet & dry macular degeneration. Have now lost the top layer of both my eyes, thanks to the smoke from buildings on fire! Now have an AFO or ankle foot orthotic under my right foot & up to below my knee & is closed over every morning. I have a blind cane which us attached to my wheelie walker as at night & as I get out of bed in the morninh, it gets hard!!
