I Have A Question
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My brother Ali has blanks episodes which have been controlled by various meds.
Recently he seems to have a issue with balance and walking is very poor.
Had a review of meds in hospital 4 weeks ago and some OT for legs but he has has another episode today.
Any ideas on what the issue is?

I have been told by my doctor that, as time passes, we start to metabolize our medications differently. Sometimes we build up a natural resistance, and need either a medication increase or change entirely to stay as seizure free as is possible for that individual. But that said, I would be concerned and contact his doctors for advice. It sounds to me like the petit mal episodes I used to have, but that’s just a layperson’s interpretation.

Has your brother Ali ever checked the side effects of his meds? There are quite a few medications that can give you dizziness, uncontrollable shaking of the body and loss of balance. It depends on the meds he is taking and what are their side effects.
