Is Lucid Dreaming Impossible With A High Lamictal Dose?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I currently am prescribed with a high dose of Lamictal, and it seems to make lucid dreaming difficult and causes supplements to no longer work (I tried the same brand a year or so prior with a lower dose and it made my dreams more vivid). As much as I try, I can never go lucid, or at least not for over 10 seconds (I wake up quickly from very rare mini-lucid dreams no matter how I try to stabilize the dream). Are full lucid dreams nigh impossible due to the medicine?

First keep in mind that we all respond differently to the medication side effects. Those of us who are taking the same medication, may experience strong side effects,, some of us may experience moderate and mild side effects. We all may experience different side effects of the medication.

I myself have been on the name brand Lamictal and and today Iā€™m on the generic Lamotrigine . I never experienced lack of dreams with any of the 2.

In the past I was on Potiga and it made me dream multiple dreams. Every night I would have 4-5 dreams a night. Today I usually have 1 big dream a night, sometimes 2 .

I was told I'll be on Lamotrigine probably the rest of my life. I find it's been the best for me. I have tried many others in the 90's but had more frequent seizures. I still have grand mal seizures but are approx 3 years apart. I hate it but accepted it. I don't have auras or side affects. I feel once diagnosed with epilepsy you'll always have some type of it. My Dr is a top notch Dr and truly feels this is the best for me and I believe that too. Good luck to you!!
