Mushrooms create new pathways, where the destroyed ones have failed..
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member this is for the ones who is allergic to or tried and failed seizure meds (like me)... aka uncontrollable seizure. my meds (phenobarbital) is a opioids... so dose heroin. yes some mushrooms do have healing powers... but other mushrooms can poison you.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member i can not help you because i do not know the health benefits of mushrooms... only cooking mushrooms.
Sounds like what Lewis Carroll once thought in his Alice in Wonderland. Tried various ways to try to treat his seizures as told by the earthworm. I was always interested in this even tripped w/ LSD to see. Hallucinogens do affect the mind but not the brain. Neurologist confirmed this back in 1973. With all the new AEDs now seizures are better controlled. Don't try to doctor yourself as people did years ago. It just doesn't work.
The article is from over 20 years ago. As far as reduction in brain activity- that's exactly what AEDs do. Some can even be for certain areas of the brain. Why try a drug to replace it? From nature or not a drug is still a drug. My sis once told me cocaine was okay cause natural. Told her so is heroin
Mescaline is also a drug that affects the mind but not the brain. Weed is like it too unlike alcohol. Dr said "off the record" I'd be safer doing this 50 years ago. Not enough research then but since then CBD oil is used as an anti-anxiety med. It doesn't have THC so no high but calms nervous system. I prefer weed cause I like the high. If mad upset just a few hits changes mind frame so much. Excites mind's pleasure centers is why. The affect on the brain is minimal. It can't stop a seizure but makes you realize how epilepsy is not so bad. After over 50 years all types seizures still physically fine you will be too. Thank your AEDs for this .
