I've only heard on one neurologist who was working on a study about some patient's ability to control oncoming seizures. Does anyone feel like they can sometimes consciously control and stop on oncoming seizure from happening when there is aura or some form of warning?
I ask out of curiosity because I swear by this personally. Last October, just over a year ago, when I learnt I have photosentivie seizures, I did it then and told the seizure 'no" out loud that really surprised me and showed on… read more
I feel light headed & feelings of walking on air. When I DO feel an aura as sometimes not, I shake my head & tell myself no.
When I would feel an aura, I would start singing or talking to myself. I felt if I was using my brain, it couldn't just stop working like it dos during a seizure. This worked about 90% of the time.
That's kind of a funny story. I guess our minds get useful too eh.
I’ve never been able to control my seizures, but my subconscious has many times helped me from getting injured. I could be up and walking and a seizure would come on and somehow, I would still be in an upright position, sometimes I would still be walking.
Another example , was sitting this time, but I was holding a 20oz. Bottle of pop/soda . I went into a seizure and I threw the bottle up in the air and caught on its way down. When I came out of the seizure, the bottle was where I was holding it before the seizure. I didn’t know about this until my wife and kids told me what they witnessed.
yes... there is a lot of types of epilepsy. aura seizures is a type of partial seizures. anyway... you can stop an aura, simple and complex partials, and sometimes generalized petit mals with singing. actually anything that stops a seizure... it's just easier to get music/singing.
