Prolonged Auras?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Have any of you experienced auras that come and go repeatedly over a span of a few hours? I have had my share of brief auras (2-3 minutes) but on Sunday and Tuesday of this week I felt disoriented and dizzy for 3-4 straight hours each day. I was afraid a full seizure was on the way but luckily that hasn't happened yet. I'd appreciate hearing about anyone's experience with this. Thanks and kind regards!

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I have absolutely had an aura barrage (no seizures amidst, thus no need to get to the hospital for a rescue med) that lasted for hours with just about everything I see, heard, etc. triggering the next aura. It was also a very high stress day, because we had just taken my mom to the ER extreme reaction to the nose dives in her glucose levels (none of which reach near or below 80, but they might as well have gone below 50 with how she was reacting to them). Only one of my sisters, who is our mom's health proxy, was allowed to stay with her at the ER. The calmed down her panic attack (believed she could not breath) in the ER and they got her major glucose drops under control over that stay in the hospital. It was an extra stressful trip to the hospital and was also her 5th time in the hospital (other reasons for other trips because she is 83 years old) during the first 6 months of the year.

My aura barrage did not end until 3 hours later after I took a nap to end them, thus if I did not end them with a nap who knows how many more hours they would have lasted.

However, they were just a major annoyance because I didn't have anything but auras. This is the only time that I have had a continuous aura barrage of that length.

How about you?

Sorry that no one else has posted that they've had the exact same experience. When you have an aura or multiple auras, which are seizures in and of themselves, do you take a rescue med?

The only thing I know about aura is what I've heard on this site and research. I lose memory 5 minutes to an hour before seizures and don't return for 5 minutes to an hour after with nothing really standing out as a sign. Any time I do get a funky feeling, headaches etc. I make my wife aware of it and so far neither of us have seen a pattern cause headaches come and go on a constant but the funky tingling sensation I get only happens every once in a while but only once or twice followed by a granmal. So I will be keeping an eye on your post cause it might be able to help me. Thanks for posting your question maybe we can both get a good idea from it. Thanks again
