Does anyone have any issues with oral health having taken AED’s for so long… i take a high does of carbamazapine and have issues with fillings staying in and a tooth cracked randomly when eating some friend chicken…. ME!!! I’ve lost or cracked and broken several (many actually) teeth from long term carbamazapine use! Seeing periodontist on the 8th of this month. Thought it was just me!!!
Every time I fall & end up needing X-ray or ct of face (I usually fall forward from drop seizures) periodontal disease + infections, swollen glands, etc show up.
I’m sorry for you. But somehow I’m relieved to hear it’s not just me!
I’ve been dealing with intractable epilepsy & the complications since 1992 essentially by myself - very privately.
My most recent hospitalization was in August; ICU for 4 days & than intermediate floor 6 more days. I’m finally getting fed up & decided to seek support somewhere people would be able to relate…

I've taken every kinda medicine there is for my epilepsy and sezuire disorder since age 5 and I've lost most of my back teeth the bottom and top due to all the meds as they all made my teeth fraile and brittle and made me lose the enamel which made them crack or brack off easily even with brushing and flossing them 3 times a day.
