@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member It all depends upon the type of seizures that you have about whether there is no reason to worry. If a person is having some form of full seizure that results in a fall, then there is a risk of serious damage from the fall. And if it is too long a seizure, then it is a real risk to life that requires immediate trip to the ER. If it is simple partial or complex partial (or at least most of them) there is no such risk to life from experiencing them. However, in the case of the latter, it all depends upon the situation when they occur. I had one once when bench pressing weights in a gym and really scared my friend who was with me because even though I continued to bench press the weights while in the seizure, he said my lips turned blue during the experience (like I was holding my breath). Now, if I do not have a spotter and suddenly stop pressing the weights at least up to the safety rack (these are free weights on a bar that I was lifting), then there is a possibility that just freezing in lifting for a time results in my arms giving on and my dropping the weights right on to my neck or chest (depending upon where I was when I had the seizure).
So, it all depends upon the type of seizures that you have about whether there is no real risk and thus no reason to get stressed about them.
Right now it's very hot outside. The one place I do walk around a lot is the Mall (air conditioner π)
However, if I get hot I will stop. I usually can only walk about 30 mins. I cannot take heat.
Donβt know, but I have been walking for arthritis over 7 years!
When I had dogs still living I did a lot of walking for most of the time, until I had my first seizure while walking them (was not a full seizure but was one with "lost time" when the youngest of the dogs ran off). And on another time, I had a non-full seizure but forgot had "lost time" and forgot where to go in order to go home. And finally, I had a full seizure in the summer (beginning of my years when summer heat sensitivity began) while walking with some of my young nephews and a niece. This one was a full seizure (with my niece on my shoulders at the time). Amazingly, she was not hurt from the fall, but this ended my walking alone (without another adult), thus I get most of my Fit Bit steps from walking in or around the perimeter of the house or simply on the stationary bike with the Fit Bit in my pocket.
