Waking Up Feeling Foggy And Unable To Walk Properly
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been noticing for a while that when I first wake up after sleeping I feel foggy but not dizzy, and when I try to walk I can't walk straight I stumble . But that only lasts for a few mins and then I'm fine. Has anyone ever had that feeling when waking up? Do you think it Could it be medication that causes that?

maybe the meds or maybe its a seizure. i have a health watch and when i wake up, i get this brain fog. i look at my watch and it said i was 'awake' for less than a minute. i know my body and that is a type of seizure. if it is the meds... then it would be constant or after i take my meds.

carbamazapine, keppra, and clobazam. never had this problem before, but since about October this has been going on for most mornings the first few minutes after waking up.

I can guarantee that it’s the side effects of your meds.

I too have that issue. I call it the ZOMBIE mode . When I wake up , I hope that I dont have to use the bathroom. I too have bad balance, if I get up right away. I would be catch the wall and furniture closest to me. It’s like, I’m physically awake, but not mentally. I would stay seated in my bed for a little bit, until my head felt awake.
