Has Anyone Had Worsening Memory And/or Profound Mood Changes On Lamictal And Vimpat?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been on Lamictal 600mg daily for about 3 years and recently added Vimpat 100mg daily. Ive noticed I have some memory loss and slurring of words/loss of words about 8 hours after my dose. Also noticed big mood changes— easy to anger and easy to cry. Anyone else experience similar symptoms? Thanks in advance :)

I am on Dilantin, Lexapro, xanax for panic attacks, but I tried CBD serum these past few weeks since my last seizure and it reduces my anxiety, fear and mind racing. I take 35mg before bed and upon waking. It is legal and can be purchased online. the cost is $90+ tax and lasts about a month. You can take as much as you need to quiet your racing mind. No side effects. Just a suggestion.

I’ve been on Lamictal for 6 years. I suffer from long term memory loss. I had to sit with my love ones and explain that to them. Now, I don’t have to keep reminding them why I forget things that happened and old conversations. It’s embarrassing at times. I just agree to disagree at times because I’m never sure if I remembered the right story., I just learned to write things down.

I’ve noticed the worsening of memory, not being able to find words, and mood swings on Lamictal. So remember this, you’re not alone or imagining things. ❤️

I’ve been taking Lamictal for a good twenty years now. I was on Vimpat for a short while but my emotions got so construed and my mind would race with horrible thoughts of harming myself. I quit the Vimpat but I am still taking Lamictal, it has the least bit of side effects, but I still have seizures. The seizures have been a lot less severe since I added a drug called Aptiom, only take it once a day

I’ve been on Lamictal for at least 18 years just to cover my butt cause it still doesn’t work all the way but it has the least bit of side effects for me. I was on Vimpat as well and that was a baaad experience. My body does not tolerate that stuff OnE BiT. I got very suicidal on Vimpat. If you feel any major depression or suicidal ideation while trying a new medicine, stop taking it right away, or at least use a smaller dose. Those side effects D O get worse if you let them. It can be a serious hell for you so listen to your body!!!
