At least I didn't hurt myself last night even though I did fall and was tired afterward. Always seems to happen near the end of my menstrual cycle. Didn't use to be that way. The seizures were controlled for a long time. My anti seizure medicines are Keppra and Lamtrogine. Technically generic Keppra but I can't spell it. But I take other medicines for nerve pain that can be used as anti seizure medicines even though they don't help me with seizures. I left a message with my neurologist… read more
I guess I'm not the only feel a change when my menstrual comes but too understand i take 2,000 mg of Keppra a day when my menstrual come i take 1,000 instead that works because only stay on my menstrual for 3 days so it makes it a whole lot better
He took it down? That's interesting. My seizures happen toward the end of my cycle. This may seem strange but it feels like during the time when it is heavier, my medication level gets lower so my body acts like it is missing a dose. Then toward the end it is like it is absorbing the dose that I take but has a seizure because my body thinks it missed a few doses when it hasn't. I don't know if that makes any sense at all or if it is even possible for my body to react that way.
If you took a lower dose, how long did it take for your body to know you had a lower dose (in other words did you lower it on the day it started? Or did you have to know in advance enough to lower it a few days before?). Sorry if I am asking for too much information. If I am, just don't answer what you don't want to tell.
My seizures and movement disorder also gets worse a few days before my periods, during and after I call it the weeks of hell , I had surgery around 3months ago and I know surgery messes with your hormones and I was seizure and movement disorder free for a few weeks and then now it's back with full force it was nice to be normal for those few weeks I also had to remind myself not to make any drastic decisions like try to work again during that time because it was gonna be temporary .
Hope is a dangerous thing sometimes.
I have never had an anti seizure medicine where I don't take the same dose every day of the month. I just had my Lamtrogine dose increased too and so far am doing well as far as seizures I think.
When I was diagnosed in 1978 ,I had 2 years between one grand mal ,then 7 years to the next Fortunately ,non when the kids were small Fast forward to 1998 ,when we moved here .They changed in type & my absences, partial seizures come in clusters ,every week without fail No idea why
