A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Im about to come off fycompa because of some bad side effects. Has anyone stopped fycompa and is it quick and easy or painful?

I was on a 6 mg tablet at night It wasn't helping at all ,so it was reduced to 4 mg then 2 mg The only annoying thing very couple of weeks was having to go to the GP to get the relevant doseage very few weeks

For any medication , it takes about a month to wean down on the medication while going on a new medication . Your Fycompa would decrease So much while the new meds would increase so much a week, until you reach the end of the month.

Well that’s how it always worked for me .

Anytime you are coming off of any drug it will take time. Just like it takes time for system to get used to a new drug, it will take time for your system to adjust to being without. Epilepsy medicines are not a 24 hour response time. It will depend on ones health and how you respond to changes.
