Would Anyone Know What Is Mean't By 5 Of Them?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Its a confusing question because that's how I feel. I went for the assessment of whether surgery would be the next step. I was asked about my seizures and auras. I'm not sure if the Dr means 5 different types seizures. Its gone straight over my head. I have to have 7 days video as an in pt and she mentioned it could be all over the brain or something else ?.whatever something else could be She also asked did I have a stroke because I have the scarring. As you can see I have no idea what was… read more

The first thing that I know is there are a number of different kind of seizures a person can have. You may have absence seizures-ones You don't know are happening. Dr.s/ neurologists want to know as much as possible, one thing would be where seizures are coming from: the left or right side of Your brain, and quite possibly both sides. Tests are the key to finding that answer. The only test that really worked for me was the Depth Electrodes Test. I now know that I cannot have more surgery. The Vagus Nerve Stimulator in now inside me. Learn for Yourself what Your triggers are : things that make Your seizures happen. Good Luck!

I don't remember if I answered this before, but the way I learned more about my epilepsy and seizures is from having the Depth Electrodes Test. That test located where my seizures were coming from and gave my Dr.s some good information. Good Luck!

I have to go along with jp420 on trying the medical marijuana...! Although I'm an old hippie and have used it all my adult life, I truly believe it has kept my epilepsy from being worse than it is...! My eeg's have found no tumors.
I have experienced 2 TBI's but the VA insist's my epilepsy is caused by PTSD from my time served in Vietnam and they just awarded me a 90% disability rating!
I just went through wearing a heart monitor for 48 hours jp420, and it will be very interesting to see the results. I went on a 22 mile bike ride while wearing it and at one point on the trail I stopped and then I just fell over sideways and tumbled down a small embankment. It felt as though the ground had tilted? Fortunately I and the bike are fine, but I bet that left a wild spot in the monitor log...!!!
And like you jp420, I have been feeling great for the last 2 weeks now. Finally adjusting to the med switch I believe! And I know the mmj helps...! 👍🏻😎

I had the he surgery because I had at least 5 eeg's and never got any results, they all came back normal, not signs of anything. I was told that the depth electrode test would have a much better chance of catching one when it was happening, plus it would give the Dr.'s more information. My seizures come from both sides of my brain so no other surgery can be done. I have the vagus nerve stimulator now-it is not working as well as I wanted to either.
