How To Bring Up Suggestions To Your Doctor?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed with puedoseizures and epilepsy in 2014 put on Keppra and Topamax. I saw little improvement. Ive had time to think through those diagnosis and come to a realzation that my seizure like events may have always been puedo due to a tramatic event I sustained at age 15. Im wondering how i bring up my thoughts on this matter to a doctor? Do I talk with my neruologist or my psychiatrist?

You may want to start by keeping a journal of what meds you are taking, at what time. Also how you are feeling before and after you have taken your meds. What side effects are you experiencing from the meds and vitamins you are taking. You can start there, that way your doctor or neurologist has an idea of what may need to be changed or adjusted. Your psychiatrist will refer to other conditions not epilepsy related.

If it is something your neurologist can help you with like your seizures or side effects from meds or headaches I would write your questions down so you can remember what to ask. That's what I do

I agree with all the above about writing down what meds you are taking and the side effects of all those and what is happing before and after you take your meds and the seizures. I keep a journal of all my seizures and any episodes l have as soon as I can remember them so I can tell my neroligest what is happing and going on and what is and isen't working and I also speak up and tell him my suggestion of next steps to be taken as I know better than anyone what is going on.

Good morning,
Regardless of the doctors explanation there are things that we can control.
This is a suggestion that may help. Personal dialogue determines how we view ourselves. When people tell themselves each day that are ... then we become those thoughts. I have an option everyday to dictate my days goals. First thing I do the minute i get out of bed is think of two things I am grateful for. Next I write down two positive things that I want to accomplish today. When I focus on positive things and follow through I have a more positive day. BTW make sure you work out both mind and body, Hope this helps
