My doctor wants me to try steroids and I dont like them but my seizures have been out of control the last 6 weeks so wondering if I should try steroids. Have they ever helped you?
Another anti-epilepsy medication is required... Steroids are not used to treat epilepsy.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member what i see it, steroids cures the outer part of the symptoms (for seizures, its the jerking). the inner body still has an effects of a seizure. in simple terms... with a jerking seizure, steroids will help with the jerking part.
Steroids won’t help. You need to try another AED
Thank you so much for doing research on them!
not to my knowledge. steriods mask the pain. i think steroids freeze or numbs it to the point where they stay in place. i googled steroids and seizures and it said 'Steroids and adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH) have been used for the treatment of infantile spasms for several years. However, the use of steroids in the treatment of epilepsy beyond infantile spasms has been limited to only a few studies.'. i didn't do the steroids but i was rx it for my arm (had surgery). my stepdad took it for back pain and he got really mad. beyond hulk angry (keppra rage).
