You might want to ask your doctor if its possible that you are allergic to it. All you said happened to me but I found out the hard way I am allergic to it.

Your Dr. needs to do some changes. He/she needs to think of adding another medication or changing medication. Try other treatments, like VNS ,RNS , maybe brain surgery.

I just don’t think your Dr. is trying much. You may want to think of finding another Dr. If possible you may want to try and find an Epileptologist, instead of a neurologist. I do know there’s Mayo Clinic or clinics in Florida. Maybe see where the closest clinic to you is. I can guarantee that you could find a great Dr. there . They may help you find more than 1 option or treatment to help you improve and reduce the the struggles with your Epilepsy.

Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I was on keppra for a long time. It was ok then my seizures increased. Keppra effects people in different ways but my neurologist decided to take me off it and put me on Brivaracetam instead. He said keppra is an old drug and research has progressed. Ask your doctor if you can be changed to another drug because it sounds like it's not helping you. Take care and let us know how things go.

I used to take Keppra but only 2000mg twice a day. And that was considered to much and I was still having seizures. I would suggest you start keeping a journal. Write down how you are feeling before you take your meds and after you take your meds. Knowing Keppra you may be experiencing at least 9 side effects out of a possible 16 with this drug. You may want to get a second opinion from another neurologist. I have never heard of a doctor giving a patient over the max of a drug and no improvement. But there is always a first. Take care.
