Can People With Epilepsy Be Around People With Shingles?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Can people with shingles be around people with epilepsy, and how does it effect the person with epilepsy “me”? Someone around me just got Shingles so I was wondering if it would affect me if I come in contact with them?

I found out in the Urgent care my eczema’s acting up, and it wasn’t shingles. Also if it gets worse I need to see my dermatologist. But I don’t know how that will happen I had an appointment with him last Friday he’s doing phone appointments, and consultations. I am just glad they found out what’s going on.

Well that was months ago the person in question I didn’t have constant contact with. But now I take care of a elderly patient they just got shingles for like 4 days. Also now It looks like I got it after day 4 of them having it in a little area of my skin. I am gonna go the urgent care in the because I want to make sure I don’t have it or it’s not my eczema flaring up.

Yes people with shingles can be around people with epilepsy. Our metabolism changes as we get older. I had a chance to speak with a person who has complex partial seizures and his wife is going through shingles. Its simple, just like anything else in life that comes along the way. We take notes, ask for help with doctors and work out a plan to deal with together. He didn't know how to handle shingles and didn't know what to expect. He went to doctor appointments with her and his wife got treatment and he continues to be by her side helping her get through it.
