A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone suffered pain in their elbow as a result of epilepsy medication or a seizure? Do you have regular scans on your bones?

I've had "bone density" Scans, twice in 11 years. Elbows, hips knees hurt...I just thought I was getting old!, Turns out to be a side effect from some of the meds I'm on(for some pple).

I have arthritic pain in my joints also, thanks to anticonvulsants. A friend of mine, got a referral and a prescription for CBD Oil for seizures and Blue Oil for her arthritis. She mixes 1 mL of Blue Oil to the cream and applies it before going to bed. Blue Oil has 10 mg/mL of THC.

In 2016 I started having real bad pain on my right elbow. I was diagnosed with tennis elbow, after an x-ray and an MRI. I had physical therapy. I had no pain for about a month, then I had a platelet rich plasma injection, taken from your own blood, that November. It was soooo painful, that I fainted. It worked for about a month only. The orthopedist asked if I wanted to do it again, I said, 'hell no". I finally had surgery in Feb. 2017. The tennis elbow is probably a result of the housework, and the gardening I do. It's from repetitive twisting and turning of the hand.
Even though my elbow has been doing good, I been having pain that sometimes, radiates from my right shoulder, to my wrist, or hurts just at the shoulder blade and the upper arm. I'm also having pain, from time to time, at the joint between my knuckles and my right hand wrist. I was told that I have osteopaenia. I also have osteoarthritis.
I take Calcium plus D vitamins because I don't like dairy products.

I've been diagnosed with Osteopaenia as well and often have very painful knees. My neuro follows my bone health and I get regular scans.

When I began to take calcium tablets for my osteoporosis, seizures popped up!
