So my son switched from trileptal to zonisamide recently. He is at 250mg nightly of zonisamide. I am happy with the med thus far in terms of seizures and side-effects except I am curious about the weight loss. In China it's used as a weight loss pill. In the U.S., the FDA has only approved it for seizure control.
Still, every once in awhile, a doctor gets caught and turned in by your local pharmacist.
I researched it before I put it in my mouth too. I dropped 15- 20 lbs too.
I been on brand 23 yrs and never gain weight or lost weight from taking brand name, I have always remain same sept when I retired I gain a little but thats from not working everyday like i did
My son is on the generic. Does there tend to be more weight loss on the brand name vs generic?
I have been on Zonegran. I experienced weight loss. My Dr. got A little worried and put me on the Generic brand of it..
I was on Topiramate & lost 4 stone I just lost my appetite
