Service Animal
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

I have had 7 grand mal seizures now and have no idea what my auras are or if I even have them. I was considering a service dog. Does anyone have any resources, grants, ideas, etc... so that I can look into purchasing one in the near future?

there is 2 options. buying a puppy and training it to be a service dog or finding a pre train service dog? ours dog is not train service but she barks (sometimes) when i am having a seizure. she is afraid of hyper dog so thats why i dont have a trainer to be a service dog. the pre service dog is about 7,000-50,000 dollars but the dog can do everything. here's a link.... https://www.pawsitivityservicedogs.com/seizures...

I really like the idea of a service dog for the independent factor. However I believe once an animal is with us they should stay with us as long as they are on earth with us ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿถ. Also Iโ€™m 5ft 10inches and my husband is at least 6ft 3inches and our children (1son 2daugjters) are even bigger and taller than us! Lol. And โ€œMy Familyโ€ has Chihuahuaโ€™s ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿถ๐Ÿ’—โ€. I believe itโ€™s up to us to train and teach our animals ourselves and that it comes to them naturally ๐Ÿ˜˜

Thank you so much Bryan! I have looked into that a little, it is just so hard to wrap my mind around how much it is. But I will definitely look more into it.

I hope all is well with you this evening. Itโ€™s unfortunate how people actually DO NEED these types of dogs just to stay well and do their best just live a life that allows them and their loved ones a sense of security. But itโ€™s VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE to be able to afford the cost of one!! Only to have to return it once it has become part of the family. I would LOVE TO HAVE FREEDOM AND SECURITY just for myself to have the independence of a life where I can have the freedom to come and go and just be loved for who I am and protected as well ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ’—. Thank you Bryan for the information and I truly hope you are doing good and mostly independently safe!! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿฆ…๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ˜Š
