It’s a fancy way of saying that a part of the cortical lobe hasn’t form properly and is causing medically intractable epilepsy. (Why they use these big terms to describe something so simple is beyond me.)

Tegretol and Trazadone reduce the body’s sodium levels. When taken together in high doses (as in your case) this explains your very low sodium levels. This is something you might want to address with your Neurologist, Epileptologist, or family Doctor.
It's a malformation of cortical development of the brain which is the main cause of medical refractory epilepsy which is a type of epilepsy that cannot be controlled with meds.
Refractory in real terms means uncontrolled.
