Within the last week my dad has had 2 episodes in the middle of the nights where he wakes up panicking. He thought he was having a stroke the first time and the hospital told him it sounded like it was Bell’s palsy and gave him some steroids which he has been taking. @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member when I had my sezuire I thought it was a stroke to I had paralysis for several hours and couldn’t move anything I was hospitalized and I couldn’t talk for a while so.. scary I have tonic-clonic sezuires as well .
From what I recall ( I studied a bit of neuro) Bells palsy includes a noticeable drop in the muscles on 1 side of the face & that she can remain open This info was from the 70's so I'm sure there's more to it A colleague of mine had it ,she was only 21. & Had to tape her eye shut so she could sleep

It could possibly be that he is experiencing a seizure and is aware of the seizure happening and feels scared because he has no control over what his body is experiencing.
My sister had that and took her to a hospital that specializes in heart problems and that is what they came back with
