Epileptics With Bad Anxiety.
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been having seizures for 5 years. I’ve been on keppra since then with no side effects. I started Lamotrigine a couple weeks ago, it caused me to have horrible anxiety attacks. What has worked for you all that also helped with anxiety?

I started on Keppra 6 years ago and I hated it. I was a zombie with no interest in doing anything. I put on weight and other side effects. Back to consultant for 6 month check and he more or less told me I was wrong!! He reluctantly put me on Lamotrigine. It controlled the seizures now they’re increasing!

Keppra can cause aggression and mood swings.

I’ve been on Keppra and Lamictal combo for about 4 years. I get bad panic attacks but I don’t know if it’s tied to the medications. I told my neuro before and she said it shouldn’t be related to the meds since they are also used as mood stabilizers. So I don’t have any answers either. :-(

Yes to Ativan. I always have mine with me. Does make me really tired though.
