Medication Side Effects
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I woke up this morning, feeling like I was hit by a car. But this has been normal for some time. Started having a few dizzy spells (mini-seizures) so I called off work. As I have read more about my medications, Trileptal and Keppra, it seems a lot of my personal problems that I have had in the last few years could be side effects of my medication. For example anger and mood swings, depression, drowsiness but never able to sleep, dark/burning urine, bleeding easy and for long periods of time from… read more

I take the same meds however i normally have dark urine morning or night sometimes or maybe often and im used to it... I do allways feel really tired and by night earlier then most i feel like my brain turns off and if i dont sleep enough or go to sleep i often just shut down and drift off nomatter what..i dont bleed easy however i used to..i think i fall asleep too easy now days..and i dont get angry or have mood swings other than if i have a reason to be angry and ive allways had a temper well controlled..i do get upset or a depressed feeling a bit too easy as well.. But thats where i had to and have to keep doing things to remind myself i can feel happier and make my own life better and cheer myself up.. It can be hard sometimes though i feel as if i just sunk into a sad hole and cant escape.. Untill i do something to take my mind into a better place and remind myself of good instead of all the upset thoughts trying to tear me down.. Hope that helps.. Drinking lots of water helps my urine and my dehydration but that may just be me

I take keppra an lymictal and they both work against each other, i have problems sleeping because of taking them.I get scared sometime because i fear if I don't get enough sleep that I may have a seizure. By the grace of GOD I haven't yet. But keppra has been a life saver for me. I have had many issues with depression over the years, not wanting to do anything that I used to enjoy doing, I found out that if you drink a lot of water that it helps also. My neuro is always telling me that. I also get fatigued more frequently than what I should. I work at a call center and believe me it really tireds me out. i am looking for another job because of it. I took a day off because it stressed me out so bad and I needed a break. I also have mood swings and getting frustrated easily. I just take each day as it comes and go from there.. Take care.

I was on keppra about a year ago and being a huge health guy a resurch but I had mood swings such as anger and frustration, grumpiness and I also got very fatigued and tired fast such are side effects of keppra but I've always had dark urine before taking keppra. I was diagnosed with clinical depression when I was out on disability. The keppra can interfere with your sleep as I have trouble going and staying asleep .
