How has alcohol affect you? Son got diagnosed with primary generalized epilepsy at 16 yrs old. He has never had alcohol. So I am wondering what will happen when he does. I have heard that many people are triggered by alcohol.
It has only been a trigger for me if I get drunk but at that level of intoxication anyone could have a seizure. Alcohol becomes a problem when an epileptic over indulges because it can make your medication less effective therefore causing breakthrough seizures. A couple of drinks would most likely be fine. Then again, some people can’t have even a drop.
Some people have ep that is caused by light on screens but most is caused by stress or brain damage
The brain is relaxed on the alcohol, and flips out upon withdrawal. This causes seizures for some.
that' right!
it is a trigger and often used if you do eeg's in the hospital to provoke seizures.
Everyone has different triggers. Some people are affected by alcohol, and they say not to drink while one certain medications. A good rule of thumb is just to stay away from hard liquors.
