Neuro-psychologist Visit
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

hello everyone, As most of you have experienced, with epilepsy comes a horrendous memory at times. I finally remembered to ask my neurologist if he knew of any methods to help me out because I just cant take it anymore. he is sending my on August second to a neuro-psychologist. I was wondering if anyone had ever gone to one and if it actually did help.

I never visited a Neuro Psychologist. But I have done what’s call the Neuro Psych Test.

Our memory issues all have to do with our med side effects and our seizures.

Playing memory games can help some. Games like , puzzles of all types , word game, and ect.

I’m going to a neuropsych appointment next month because I’m being evaluated for surgery. I didn’t know that you could even see one for memory problems. I have a friend who saw one because she had a stroke a few years ago and she said that it was more to evaluate the extent of the memory loss. Maybe that was just for her situation though.

From time to time, over the past few decades, I’ve sought & received Excellent emotional assistance from Psychiatrists & very nice 👍🏿 people. For me, the Best advice that I received was to begin speaking about how I truly felt; I had spent decades pretending to be happy. Going to Rap Sessions for people who have Epilepsy would truly benefit you. It is truly emotionally relaxing to constructively share your experiences with someone who has been through/understands what you are saying.

Going to a psychologist/psychiatrist will definitely be beneficial to you. Having someone who is skilled at listening & responding will help you to feel more comfortable in openly expressing yourself. By constructively discussing how you feel, you will gain inner peace & relaxation.

It will be a full day because of my work schedule I could only get one day off. Thanks for the tip though Patricia :)
