Can Prednisone Affect Your Seizure Threshold?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

My son was just prescribed prednisone for a reaction to a medication. Can this affect his seizure threshold? How about the occurrence of nocturnal seizures which are primarily what he has? Anyone with experience? Thanks.

Thanks everyone for your answers. Just an update. My son was put on a 4 week taper starting at 40mg for a severe oral lichenoid stomatitis reaction. His seizures seem to be fine so far...knock on wood.

Thanks!

My son had the skin rash as well and went on prednisone for 4 or 5 days. His threshold was fine while he was still on the Dilantin as well at the time as well as the prednisone.

every med has side effects. and different people have different types. but i googled 'prednisone and seizures' and 13 patients actually are seizure free and another 18 lessen the seizures. i googled prednisone and that med isnt meant for seizure but it is a many diseases cure.
