Hi everyone, I have had epilepsy for 43 years. At this time between the last 5-10 years. I have been on Tegretol CR 400 mg and Dilantin 300 mg ( I think, my mind just went blank lol). I take two Tegretol in the morning and two at night. Three Dilantin at night. Recently three hours after taking my night meds I been feeling off balance and blurred vision (I work graveyard shifts).Then another three hours later.I feel fine again. I took tegretol a long time ago and it made me wobbly and yes blurred vision. if you are having sideeffects you hadn't had before it might be a reflection of your metabolism, liver function or maybe you changed to a generic. People complain about generics being less effective but sometimes the problem is tat they peak too soon or wear off too soon. I have had diferent experiences witht he same manufacturer but a new refill. get a blood level and see whats up.

I have been on both Tegretol and Dilantin in the past. Currently on Vimpat. Ativan may work also. I’m allergic to that one however. I hope that this helps

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, the Wada is a test where they temporally freeze one brain sphere , then freezing the other brain sphere. They are trying to find out where your speech , language and memory centers are .

They will ask you to say easy elementary things . They may ask you to say the ABC’s, count to 100 and sing Twinkle little star . That will help them know what side of the brain , the speech, language and memory centers are.
