Question for anyone that can help if you have nead and your triggers are pain change in temperature and coming on your period and flashing lights how can a psychologist help with this? Or is it something you just have to deal with

Well It IS Tougher For Some OF Us That Is True Especially When You Grow With This Condition And Have It More than 90% Of Your Life. I Didn't Think I Had Any Issues To Work Out Either, Until I Was Able To Get Real And Get Serious With Myself And Then It Hits You, You Are Like OH Maybe I Do Need A Little Help. We All Like To Think We Are Doing Fine On Our Own But What Is One Or Two Sessions Gonna Hurt Like I Said If It Doesn't Work Out You Stop Going That's What I Plan On Doing, If It Doesn't Work For Me. Why Waste Money On Something That Doesn't Work Right? Hey We All Have Different Needs That Is What Makes Us Individuals

You would likely see a counselor who is into. Cognitive behavioral therapy and though I am still researching I have read dialectical. Therapy works with epilepsy.

Well It May NOT Be A Waste Of Time To See A Counselor It Took Me 47 Years Just To Be Able To Admit TO MYSELF That I Even Have Epilepsy. I Am Sure They Will be Able To Help In Some Way, Granted I Wouldn't Expect Any Reduction In Your Seizures JUST BECAUSE You Are Seeing Him Or Her BUT It May Help With Other Aspects. Like The Severe Depression We Have To Deal With As A Result Of The Side Effects Of The Medications We Take And Just From Having A Medical Condition No One Really Completely Understands. Don't Dismiss It Before Giving It A Chance I Have Done That For The Last 47 Years Saying Stuff Like I Don't Need S**T Like That When Nothing Could Be Further From The Truth. Sometimes We All Just Need Someone There Just To Listen To Us Rant On About All The CRAP We Have To Put Up With THAT Is What THEY Get Paid For, Try It You Don't Have To Stay With It If It's Not For You

I Don't Either, Psychology Has NOTHING To Do With HAVING Epilepsy See A Counselor May Help You Deal With It Much Better Than Trying To Deal With It On Your Own And Some It Not MOST Of The Medications Depress The Living S**T Out Of Us So That Might Help Somewhat, I Will Know Better Myself Next Month When I Start Counseling Myself BUT.....I Am NOT Going To Be Setting Expectations On What The Counseling Can And Will Do For Me I Am Just Hopeful It Is Helpful In Some Way

Honestly I Don't Think A Psychologist Could Help With Seizure Management At All BUT That Is MY Opinion. They May be Able To Help Us Cope With Having Such A Condition BUT I HIGHLY DOUBT They Could Do Anything To Help Manage Your Seizures Talk To Your Neurologist And Your Primary Care Doctor
