When you go into a seizure does it affect your mental age? Because I am 19 years old and mentally I am 14 because each time I had a seizure it stopped my brain from growing
I lost allot of memory from my seizures
My son started having seizures at 4 it is very hard for him to developmentally but we are told that with lots of time and working hard every day it is possible to catch up but that seems to me to be definitely normal I am not a doctor but as I said I have talked to many people with epilepsy who are going through the same thing I think it takes a little extra time for your brain to catch up
There is articles on line that talk about that issue. I find it helpful to play games on my phone like scrabble. It keeps my brain active. I've gotten to a point that I can do wheel of fortune very quickly. My husband is a type 1 diabetic. That helps my math issues because I tally up all the carbs in what I cook.
I think it depends a lot on the type of seizures and the gravity of them. I would think that someone who suffers frequent grand mal or prolonged seizures is more likely to be mentally affected. My memory has always been better than average, but my seizures were very mild. I'm now 63 and do have some short term memory or "senioritis'.
i've lost a lot of my memory and I do believe it's from so many seizures.
