Emory In Atlanta Or Mayo In Jacksonville
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone had experience with Emory in Atlanta or the Mayo in Jacksonville? We had decided after going to Emory (traffic awful) for the initial consult that we would just have everything done at the Mayo because I am already being seen by them for my AVM. But I have found out that the whole process would have to start over. The next available appointment would be June 17th. Then we would have to wait after that to get the video eeg scheduled. If so what has been your experience? I really want… read more

I truly believe that most doctors are a product of their education. They are taught all about drugs, but nothing about nutrition, health or prevention. Now, the big Pharma companies own all of them and they are ruled by the insurance companies. They truly disgust me with their deadly drugs. I wish you the best of luck with your journey.

Thank you @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member . You have proven many of my points ( but not recent ) that the majority of Dr.’s don’t understand Epilepsy. It part of their job to help. Us understand and give advice on our , condition. That includes all diseases, disorders, syndrome, viruses, and ect. My Epileptologist ( Epilepsy Neurologist ) knows and understands Epilepsy. I won’t dare see a regular Neurologist.

The only way I was able to understand my Epilepsy more, was when I started to go a support group through the MN Epilepsy Foundation in my teens. About 5 years ago I went an Epilepsy Conference, also through the Epilepsy foundations. Every who live in the U.S. can find a Epilepsy Foundation in their state.

I’ve also said that many of those dumb Dr.’s need to go through a crash course on Epilepsy. I can bet that there other conditions that isn’t understood well.

What I don’t understand, is that Epilepsy has been around for thounds of years and nobody understands a thing about it. Everyone acts like it’s a new disease or something. Instead of understanding it ,they just become ignorant and say things, they think of it . Usually false information.

We all have to try and share our knowledge to others who don’t understand and make them understand. We need to get rid of this stigma.

the neurologist who finally disgnosed me with epilepsy didn't teach me anything at all about seizures. He told me I'd have to figure it out for myself. It's taken years, but I have figured it out and stopped depending on idiot doctors.

Thats false, a seizure induced by a doctor, does not go against u. Atleast how AZ is. Weather where you go, ( I go to Mayo. Its recommended, u go a leval 4 epilepsey center like (mayo). That has epilepsy Department. That's all they do. Epileptologists focuse on epilepsy and usually minors neuropsychology. U have a team. A Garden variety neurologist focuses on the whole nervous system in a hole. They just dont deal with epilepsy. There not an epilepsy expert.
