Do any of you feeling epilepsy holds you back in the workplace like being denied promotions or something like that?
There are many challenges, when come find work with Epilepsy.
One of the big things is the worry , whether or not they will hire you because of of our disorder. Then there are the employees that get scared when seeing us seizure and possibly get fired from having a seizure.
Then there is the location of the job and whether or not your able to get to it . Are able to work in tight spaces and narrow walkways, without getting injured , if you were to have a seizure. Maybe you want a job where there’s a good amount of space , for you if you were to fall from a seizure.
All we can hope for is , that the employees and employer are willing to understand about our Epilepsy. The more they question and and talk about it , the less fear they will have .
Nope not @ all i dont let my epilepsy get me down not by a long shot & i work @ a shipyard matter of fact i had a seizure on my job and fell and hit my head on Apr.24 and i could feel it coming on im glad i have auras and that i dont just black out without no sign
Fortunately For Me ALOT Of My Co-Workers Understand And Actually Encourage Me To Move Forward IF I So Choose. Of Course No One Likes It When I Have A Seizure And EVERYONE Is Concerned Not Only For My Health But Also Because I AM Well Respected At My Job And IF I Am Not There For Some Reason They Freak Out, Everyone Is Like OMG Where Is Dave We Really Need Him, So That Actually Kind Of Feels Good Knowing That You Are Needed And Respected At Your Job. Same Job For The Last 19 Years Unfortunately We Are On SRTIKE Right Now
Yes a lot
