What Does Complex Seizures On The Left Temporal Lobe Look Like?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My neuro has always been certain that my complex/complex-parital seizures start in my right temporal lobe. However, my last EEG the doctor said that there is more activity on the left than they have recorded before. When I tell her what my most recent seizures are like, she still believes they are on the right. She said that if they were now starting from the left, what I look like while having a seizure would be different.

My question is for those with complex partial seizures on the left… read more

Let Temporal Lobe is where my seizures start. They tend to zone you out ill just sit there if your talking with me and not answer sometimes making sounds or ill make a weird laugh. I have also been unable to respond to others and go off wondering like i'm looking for something. it takes a bit to get it back together and then I am emotionally drained and down. Ive also had more extensive ones (longer lasting) where my hand curls and I am totally out and unresponsive or answer incorrectly during or not at all. throughout all of them I dont know they are coming and just happen. If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask.

With my Complex Partial seizures, I’ve been told that I would have small to moderate jerks in my harms and legs . There was were times when I would throw an item up in the air . For example my wife and kids witnessed me throwing a 20oz pop bottle in the air and catching it . This is all during a seizure. I also vocalize noises , sounds and words. I also have absence seizures.

I have Complex Partial Seizures on my left Temporal Lobe too.

When I seizure,, I might jerk my arms and legs or one of the two , a Absence seizure ( blank stare ) , I vocalize sounds and sometimes speak words, sometimes my body may stiff up, eyes flutter , and maybe a little head jerk .

I have TLE(Left) /complex Partial. In the beginning and still happening: Can’t speak right before/during/right after; eyes shake back & forth/cross; short term memory issues; headache Left side; exhausted after. I don’t have the non-stop yawning anymore; the stuttering after isn’t as bad/sometimes doesn’t happen; I don’t have grammar issues anymore (putting sentences together was an issue); most aphasia has resolved. Sometimes, I have nausea (never vomit), my muscles may stiffen or have a slight jerk right before but always during the seizure, my entire body goes limp. The newest thing is uncontrollable sobbing out of nowhere & it stops just as suddenly. I think it’s part of the aura. Before, I have always felt like I was going down a roller coaster & tears would roll out of the sides of my eyes.
