Do You Get Seizures When You Change Your Diet?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a seizure last Friday, & the only thing I can think of that was different was the food I was eating. I changed my diet to eat healthier. I took my medicine that night, but still had a seizure & ended up in the ER, so it might have been the food I was eating.

I had more seizures when I diet. That is why I don’t diet.

I'm seeing lots of carbs there.
Rice, bread, bananas. Bananas have highest sugar amount of all fruit.

I noticed the same pattern in my seizures. Eat rice or pasta - seizure an hour later. I didn't know why.
I didn't know that bread and bananas and oatmeal were contributing to tripping a short circuit in my brain because of too much sugar.

In all my life it never happened before.

I told my doctor and he introduced me to ketogenic diets. Low carb/ high fat- good fats eating.

Prior to pills this is how they treated Epilepsy.

I've felt that same way before. Healthier diets typically have lower amounts of sodium. Some prescribed medications also lower sodium. You should discuss this with your doctor, ideally an epileptologist.

Rice, tuna sandwich, bananas, lettuce, tomato, mostly foods I don't normally eat, but started because they were healthy & I was trying to lose weight

My doctor told me to change my diet, I never listened and still dealt with them. I wouild imagine it depends on the person and how the food affects their body. What kinda food did u eat? I am curious.
