Can’t Walk After Seizures
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hey I’m new to this, and have been reluctant to talk about but I feel people who deal with epilepsy have more knowledge about it then the doctors and neurologists sometimes as you deal with it everyday
I started having seizures a year ago, so all fairly new and scary. Neurologist thinks it’s a mixture of epileptic and non epileptic seizures, I have had an EEG but surprisingly I never had a seizure when it was on- sods law really. I just want to know does anyone experience not being able to walk… read more

Don't stress yourself out over thinking too much about it, okay? Because stress and anxiety can bring on a seizure and I don't want that for you. It's common for people who have just had a seizure to not be able to walk or talk afterwards. It depends on how this person gets through it though.
After a seizure, I'm sometimes unable to walk, see, and only capable of slurring my words. At other times I'm able to quickly recover because the seizure didn't last that long or because it wasn't as severe because I have the Vns to control it. I understand what you are going through because I have over seventy seizures a day. You just have to speak to your doctor about a treatment plan.
All of my neurologists say that your brain has to basically regenerate itself with rest over time.

first of all... your body is so weak from a bad seizure. it has to recharge. that recharging maybe a minute or it could be hours. mine is a couple of minutes to a couple of seconds. i dont know yours.
as for the second part... is i do not know what type (partials, tonic, myoclonic, ect.) seizures and/or epilepsy. different types mean different treatments and/or meds. i have complex partials into tonic-clonic.
i got a 3-3 1/2 decades with seizures and i know a lot from research and stuff like that.

I came here to look for answers. I haven't been able to walk for two days now.... this is my first time having this happen after a few episodes. I have quite a lot of seizures... I'm kinda relieved that it was just a episode that cause me not able to walk.
