Alprazolam For Anxiety?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi all.
I have been suffering from severe anxiety the last while and my GP told me to try Xanor SR for a few days to see if it works. I have read a lot of negative stuff about it. I have tried rivotril and urbanol and ativan and they all just knock me way out. BUT I am getting panic attacks and need to do something.

Any advice is appreciated!

CBD oil helps with my anxiety. I had taken prescription meds for it but now the oil is all I need.

I don't know of Alprazolam. I was given Clonazepam (combo anticonvulsant and anxiety medicine). It does as much as it can to help me with anxiety in the same degree that an antidepressant can help.

As my therapist explained to me years ago, an antidepressant does not prevent depression, but it helps you to prevent the very deep lows and to recover faster from the lows, however, the rest is on you. The same is the case with the anxiety meds; they are an aid but cannot eliminate anxiety without your help.

Stress is the number one threat to so many things because stress is the collection of all of the effects of the negative emotions and anxiety comes right along with them. There are no cures for depression, seizures, anxiety or stress. Doctors and herbalists can provide aids, but we have to provide all the rest. We need to get the 6+ hours of sleep a night. And we must put in the extra effort to try to control stress and try to remain calm and positive to help in the battle with anxiety and depression, respectively.

When I personally master how to do this, then I will share the secret with you. However, there are many others on here who have done so, and who can provide tips.

To realize a seizure med is working you have to be on it for awhile. When you first start taking any seizure med, body goes through strange changes you will not know if it benefits you until at least after 3 months. Now I started a trial study with Aptiom, that lasted for nearly 3 years before it was approved by the FDA.
