What do you do if you run out of a medication and the pharmacy isn’t open? I missed two days of one of my medications and took another one, just too much. The ER doesn’t carry my meds either. What would you do besides making sure you have enough pills? First time I’ve done this in years!
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Years ago I missed some of my medicine and I didn't have enough I almost died. But By my Eplitologist not beingbin office There was a Dr.on call. You have to find out who's on call in his place.Right away so they call in some medication until your Dr comes in. Also what I done was explain to my Eplitologist that and also my Primary Care Physician was that I needed a 3 month supply. Due to the way my prescription was written. Also I get my medicine mail order. If you explain or look at how much medication he has you taking. It wouldn't hurt. My Insurance company is Aetna check in see what insurance.you.have it won't hurt It's up to you I'd try
Here we have one 24 hours pharmacy but it's a good distance but I always stock up a week or 2 weeks ahead cause I'm on blister packs (they file my pills in a package for the times I need it). Idea to go to the dollar store & get a pill case & fill for yourself so this won't happen. Other then no pharmacies open then a hospital has all medications in stock cause they deal with patients who they give meds. too. I would go to ER & say you need your meds. & it's an emergency & if needed stay overnight as last resort. Otherwise you only can wait till one opens.
We have 2 walgreens in my town and only one is 24 hrs. I have had my pharm to call another location to get the meds I need if emerg.
The only problem is my hospital is so small, they don’t stock everything. It’s a two-hour drive to the nearest open pharmacy. Lots of great ideas, though. Thanks a bunch!
If money is the problem check out the discount apps. GoodRx is a great one but you may have to move pharmacies. Always check them out. I found different programs changed costs month to month. If you stick with the same one all the time the cost seemed to climb. GoodRx had priced fluctuations but they were small &when I changed pharmacies it settled out some. Plus saved me a huge amount of money.
