In my state (Virginia), you need to be at least 6 months seizure free, with a doctors note, before you are able to regain your driver's license if you are an epileptic. Unfortunately, the area I live in is also not very good with public transportation and things like Uber and Lyft are expensive for someone who doesn't get as much income as would be preferred. This causes me to be "up Sh*ts creek, without a ladder" as the term goes I believe
I don't have many friends and know even fewer people… read more

I have lost my liscence a couple of times because of bad doctors. You need supportive doctors. The one time was when I was pregnant with my second son and anyone that knows anything about epilepsy knows any time your hormones changes you are more likely to have seizure activity and I did. Having a seizure whilst I was pregnant. I went to the hospital to make sure my son was ok and the attending doctor took my licence. Fortunately my neurologist wrote a letter and it was soon returned to me -- if your seizures are regularly controlled the neurologist can write a letter and have it reinstated. Situations arise but for most of us seizures can be controlled if we control our environments.

Hmmm, this can always be difficult. First of all, just know this is nothing you cannot handle and you live, forevermore, in a "no blame" space. Release these thoughts and guilt! Second, have you researched your areas for programs that may help? Or have you filed for disability or a program that can assist with cost as a result of your diagnosis? I just ask, because sometimes things are out there and we don't know or haven't left all stones uncovered.I did locate these websites that MAY be able to help' http://www.easyaccess.virginia.gov/transportati... https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/familyservices/di... http://www.carevirginia.org/list14_virginia_dis...

Maybe they can help? Blessings and stay strong!

I lost my licence when I was 35 due to my seziures and now47 I know I'll never drive agian and having unexpected and lots of errands and places to go and stuff iedvlike to do with my son.i have very little to no friends all working and s busy family so I know how hard it can be I can't use the public transportation systems here as they would take me in circles. Depending on how big your places are or how far.i discovered in snow season a kinda far to midway place a cab is a reasonable option even on s miserable SSI check. And in the summer and spring month if I take off soon enough a long walk will do me good or s bike ride to places like the store a big duffle bag I bring with me. I've found out if I depend on myself I can never be disappointed and the research helps to.
