I really want to be a nurse and I’m scared that I wont be able to because of my seizures and brain damage.
It probably depends on what department/field of nursing you would want to work in. I worked as pretty much a medical assistant, doing many of the things that a nurse could do at a family practice office for a while when my seizures where somewhat better controlled than they are now. My employer knew about my issues and was understanding. That said, where I am at now, I doubt I could go back to it. I'd say as long as you could do the job with reasonable accommodations, then it should be fine. At least go to a local college and talk to a career counselor, maybe they can give some more insight. Also talk to your neurologist.
I’m not sure but I think as long as you have the qualifications and pass the medical to work they can’t descriminaye against you but would need to make reasonable adjustments for you . You can always try similar type of work in caring type roles
It depends on which area/field you're working for.
I can’t see why not. I use to be a PCA ( personal care assistant ) for a home with adults living in wheelchairs and different handicaps . There would be a staff of two to help the clients in the home.
We would cook, hand out meds, give them showers ( on scheduled day ) , Hoyer lift them into bed , change Depends, give meds and ect.
I work in child care field thought i couldnt anymore but im going ok i do get stress and have fake seizures as well so its kinda rough on me .
