Dating A Relationships
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

When is it the right time to tell the date/the person you are in the relationahip with that you have epilepsy? I only have them at night, so when we meet up it wouldnt really matter for that one day.. but if it becomes into serious relationship i will have to tell them...

Even on the first day it matters for your safety! It also shows if the person cares or is going to try in the relationship.

I have always told people that when they meet new people, friends, and relationships that I have Epilepsy. Then I will know if they are a true friend or relationship. If they pull away or try dodging me , then I know they aren’t a true friend. Plus I wouldn’t be so heart broke and angry.

Be honest straight up would be my advice. If someone going to have their feelings towards you affected by your epilepsy then they're not worth the time of day.

I have been with my boyfriend for 2.5 years and funny enough a friend of mine actually told him before I did without me knowing of course, my partner told me a month later and showed me what he said to our mutual friend because I was curious to know, he said he doesn't see me any differently. After that, it made me love him even more than I did.
So when I told him when we were just friends at the time and week later we got together 2.5 years later still going strong, since then he has been by my side and looking out for me he hates seeing me go through pain. It's better to tell the person sooner rather than later.

There isn’t much to tell about it. If you can talk about it casually and they accept you, then you are good to go.
After all, It’s gonna come out sooner or later........
