Lamictal And Contraceptive Pill Advice?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Im due start on Lamictal/lamotrogine and currently taking Brenda 35-ed (also known under Estelle and other names) ive read they interact. interested in hearing the experience of others? Did you choose to stop taking the pill, or did taking both help your seizures? Did acne return?

I used to use the pill to manage acne.....tried going off it once, it was a disaster, then a few years later went off it...and have been offit successfully for about 8 years. Your body does change with time. This is one of the times it is for the better.

As for the pill...yeah lots of epilepsy meds interact with the pill :-( and you ABSOLUTELY should pay close attention to it. Anecdotal evidence is that artificial hormones can be very good or very very bad for your seizures. I have just had my Mirena taken out because I think it was triggering massive grand mals....on the other hand many women use the pill to manage catamenial epilepsy.

Thanks Andy, hormones trigger me to. In one way pill can help but I guess I’m just wondering if it will be easier to manage dose /interactions and hormone balances if I eliminate the pill from my system. Just simplified things. I started it primarily because of my skin 10 years ago and attempted to get off it one time to go “el naturale” but it was ... not pretty ha!
