Medical Coverage
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've just been laid off from my job. This is the first time I won't be under an employer's medical plan to co-pay for my medications.

Can you provide some information on how I can continue receiving my medicine if I'm unemployed? Are there any government subsidies that help? Does the Epilepsy Foundation ?

thanks for all your help

You might want to get a hold of the human service in your county. Ask them if they can help sign you up to the State insurance. If you think you need help filling out the forms , maybe you can call the Epilepsy Foundation to find someone who can help you understand the form and maybe speed up the process.

Here in Australia we have Centrelink and Medicare. As long as it's public hospital and centre, it's free for everyone. Been hospitalized a couple of times and had a surgery but they're all free. I'm a pensioner as well. Discount in shops, public transport, medicine etc. College is free with extra support too :)

come to the UK!!! all unemployed or people earning very little or disabled people get free prescriptions and everyone gets completely free healthcare.. as standard. its fantastic :) its completely shameful that people in America have to struggle and worry about this sort of thing. move to the UK much better here. no guns really either
