Have Any Of You Tried The Ketogenic Diet?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am curious if the Ketogenic diet is worth it. I am an Epileptic that has been through many different medications. I have a Neuropace that is supposed to start helping sooner or later. Do you lose weight on the Ketogenic diet? I don’t need to lose weight. I’m already a thin guy.

So, can anyone tell me about their experience with the Ketogenic diet?

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, it's about reducing carbs and increasing fats, so the body uses fats as its primary energy source. ( not carbs) You get to eat protein at every meal. Steak, chicken, bacon, eggs, lamb, - meats. Leave the fat on, skin on chicken. Melt butter on steak, and fish. Wrap bacon around salmon and tuna steak. Cook eggs in bacon fat. Cook some greens in bacon fat. Hot dogs, sausage, pepperoni, salami, all good. There are recipe books and sources online with recipes. You can make keto desserts and meals and pizza. I make chocolate bars Using protein powder and coconut oil and peanuts every week just for me. Sometimes I make keto cookie dough balls and keep them in the freezer just for me. I get all the pork rinds I can eat. We love Chinese food. My wife eats keto chinese with me. Tonight it's "egg roll in a bowl" You can make jeto ice cream. Pancakes. Frenchtoast, garlic bread, hamburger buns, (that don't have 20g carbs) It can be done.

Premium fats.
Coconut oil, olive oil, animal fats they are natural) butter, flaxseed, peanut oil, safflower oil.
All high fat. Good fat.
Training the brain to burn fat, limiting carbs.
Cholesterol is monitored if done as a medical treatment.
I keep saying that because worldwide it's becoming popular with health minded regular folk.
Within a few days the absence seizures stopped.
My Vns takes care of the simple partials/grand meals.

i had the keto diet for 10-15 years. before the diet i was having seizures once, or even twice a hour. during the diet i was having 2 seizure a hour. i was on the highest amount of meds 2x daily before and during the diet i lowered the meds to the lowest amount. i also had surgery and they lowered to one seizure every day or every other day.
the keto diet you starve yourself for a day or limit yourself for a couple of days. then you get a scale and weight everything. the worst things are you can not go to restaurants and the food is precise. on the keto diet you will lose extra belly fat, if you have it.
note- i was a teen when i went on the the keto diet. and it is hard when everyone is having a event (or special occasion) with food and you cant have it.

I'm following keto and dont have any problems. I've list over 20 lbs since February. I'm 66 so losing is slower for me now but I dont care as long as it's coming off. Lol
