Has anyone used a low carb or ketogenic diet to successfully reduce migraines? I think that carbs may be a trigger for me.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, I spoke with my mother a few moments ago and asked her about her headaches. She said that when she started the diet she got some headaches trying to adjust to it I guess, but after that, they went away. I know you weren't asking about headaches related to that but thought you may want to know. Now, as far as her headaches, she said she hasn't had any headaches since she adjusted to the diet and has stopped taking the medicine she was taking for headaches. She has also stopped taking her medication for diabetes because her levels are doing so well. She had a visit with our family doctor yesterday. After seeing her results and looking through her blood sugar diary, he asked if he could copy the information and show it to his other diabetic patients.
My mother asked me to tell you to watch Dr. Bergman on YouTube. Of course, that's completely up to you, but she said she learned a lot about the Keto diet from him. I hope this helps, and good luck. :0)
I love My food
I hope it really works out for you! I talked to my Mother again this evening and asked her more about the diet. Seems she's had some really positive effects.
I'm not sure @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member. My Mother is actually doing the Keto diet for diabetes and it's working great for her, but I know she gets extremely bad headaches that she takes medicine for. I will ask her tomorrow and find out if her headaches have become less frequent or less harsh.
Sometimes carbs can trigger but im not sure
